Motion sickness is a common problem in people traveling by car, train, airplanes, and especially boats. It is not considered to be a disease since it can occur in nearly every person (more common in children, pregnant women, and people taking certain medicines).

When your brain receives conflicting information from the inner ears, eyes, and nerves in the joints and muscles, you can get motion sickness. For example, if you are reading on your phone while riding a bus, your eyes are focused on something that is stationary, but your inner ear senses motion, then this is thought to cause a mismatch of messages to the brain and leads to this condition.

Motion sickness can start suddenly, with a queasy feeling and cold sweats. It can then lead to dizziness and nausea and vomiting. This can lead to dehydration and low blood pressure, so it is important to seek prompt medical attention if this occurs.

The symptoms of motion sickness can be mild or quite severe and may include some or all of the following:
– Nausea                                           – Vomiting
– Dizziness                                       – Cold sweats
– Headache                                      – Excessive production of saliva
– Burping                                          – Yawning
– Dilated pupils                              – Generally feeling unwell and tired

“I have been 3 weeks island hoping in Greece. These kind of trips usually screw up at least 6-7 days of feeling like sh*t from sea/motion sickness! Not this time, one disc on temple and feeling awesome all the trip.”
